Tracee Ellis Ross's beautiful baby
Welcome to another episode of Shop or Drop where I spend my coin to try products out so you can make a more informed choice before purchasing

Pattern Beauty's bright and bold yellow graced our instagram feeds with the promise of making our wash days easier and our hairstyles more defined and luscious. The line has since expanded to include several other products aimed at addressing all type 3 and 4 hair needs.
Did they accomplish this? Lets dive in
The Line
There are so many products in this line ranging from shampoos, to conditioners for "coilies, curlies, and tight textures", to leave-ins, to gels and accessories that I can't fit them all in this post (you can find a complete list here). Instead, lets get right into the review.
I purchased the Pattern Beauty On-the-go Kit (Price: USD 25; CAD 31) which features appropriate sample size shampoo, conditioner for coilier textures, and a leave-in conditioner.
Pros and Cons of the Kit
The Hydration Shampoo
I gave this shampoo a 5 out of 10 for clarification quality. While it did gently cleanse and hydrate my scalp, as was advertised, my scalp didn't feel super clarified and the product head a co-wash consistency. It lathered up a lot but my scalp was lacking that deep clarification cleanse that I look for in a shampoo.

The Heavy Conditioner for Coilies
I gave this conditioner a 3 out of 10. Considering it is marketed towards coilier textures, I expected it to have more slip than it did. It was very thick such that applying it to my type 4 hair felt almost drying. Adding water did activate the "slip" I like in a conditioner, but a conditioner should already have enough slip. A great alternative to this conditioner is the Aussie Miracle Moist Conditioner; one of the staples in my natural hair products.
The Leave-in Conditioner
This was by far my favourite product in the kit. My hair felt extremely moisturized and the definition from my twist-out later was amazing. It has a watery as opposed to creamy consistency which is quite different from other leave-ins on the market. Would I buy it again? Absolutely...when I have some discretionary income.

Overall Thoughts
An overall pro of this line was the smell. I wouldn't recommend it if you don't like pungent products that have a perfume-esque scent. I on the other hand loved it. It has a rich aunty scent that lingers on for days.
One con is the price point of the products. It is more expensive, (or average priced depending on your bank account), than similar products on the market. If you live in a different country other than the U.S of A, you might have to splurge a little to get free shipping.
I wanted to love this line so bad because I love my girl Tracee, but I have to be honest for you; dear reader. The only product I would consider buying again is the leave-in conditioner. Other than that, I might purchase some of the other products Tracee has come out with and update this post accordingly so be on the look out ;)
